Introduction
Remote Fiber Test Systems (RFTS) use Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry (OTDR) technology to automatically monitor the health of fiber optic networks. RFTS systems use a technique referred to as "optical correlation". This is accomplished by continually comparing optical traces to a reference trace and detecting any fiber changes. The remote unit uses an optical switch to test multiple fibers and report alarms. The FiberWatch™ Remote Fiber Test System is capable of testing both dark and active fibers.
